This project builds on Planact’s considerable experience with training and capacity-building programmes for a range of local government practitioners and stakeholders. This experience has created a strong understanding of the practical challenges facing local government, especially in the area of public participation.
Planact provides assistance to local government structures in order to advance their capacity to achieve a truly developmental local government through effective, participatory, integrated planning processes.
A comprehensive training programme for ward councillors and ward committee members which comprises the following topics has been developed:
