Young people’s organic food gardens in Wattville

Young people in Wattville, in the City of Ekurhuleni are implementing an alternative way to beat economic hardships through establishing an organic food garden in a piece of land available in the area.

The Fella Brothers Projects, a black youth owned initiative started the agriculture project in 2017 and has partnered with the elderly who needed land to do farming.

Planact assists with organisational development as well as negotiating for vacant land in Tamboville, Brakpan Airfield.
The government’s Community Works Programme (CWP) has taken the project under its wing for the next few years. The agricultural project includes a range of crops, dairy products (milk, yoghurt and amasi),bee farming and animal farming(poultry,piggery, cows).
