No land? No problem is the motto in Jumpers Informal Settlement, one of our Social Employment Fund localities in the City of Johannesburg.
The Food Security team in Jumpers is not letting the barriers of access to land stop them from recycling old materials to grow vegetables. They can now easily harvest and feed their families without spending a cent!
Another impactful project in Jumpers is their soup kitchen, which feeds many hungry tummies. The Food Security team is supported by the Gauteng Departments of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
Their recycled vegetable garden and soup kitchen initiatives are an impactful effort towards Zero Hunger which is Goal 2 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This is also part of Planact’s Sustainable Livelihoods initiatives programme.
Jumpers is a partner community of 1 TO 1 Agency of Engagement, which is also Planact’s Strategic Implementing Partner under the Social Employment Fund project.
